It is a hobby of mine as I read to take some of my favorite quotes and create some fun corresponding graphics to share with others. I hesitate to call it graphic design since I hardly know what I am doing! Most Fridays I share some of these quotes and graphics with you. Feel free to share or use of any of them. I wouldn’t mind the shout out if you do.

This week’s quotes come from Dr. Howard Griffith, John Stott, Brennan Manning, Scott Sauls, and Leslie Newbigin

Servants are afraid of the slightest failure. Their masters are very particular and harsh. But children, who know a father’s kindness, gladly bring him their “projects,” even with their defects. Why? Because they know that their dad accepts them and will not point out their flaws. He loves the attempt, because he loves his child. That is true of our heavenly Father. He loves us, so he loves and accepts our obedience.

If the Church was worth His blood, is it not worth our effort?

I am a bundle of paradoxes. I believe and doubt, I hope and get discouraged, I love and hate, I feel bad about feeling good, I feel guilty about not feeling guilty. I am trusting and suspicious. I am honest and I still play games. Aristotle said I am a rational animal; I say I am an angel with an incredible capacity for beer.

This is the community to which we have been called by God – a community that includes drinks and bad husbands and liars and killers and womanizers and idolaters and bullies. How does it make you feel to know this? It makes me feel hopeful…even irresistibly drawn to such community. Because if there is room in God’s house for these, then there is also room in God’s house for me.

Movements that begin with the local congregation in which the reality of the new creation is present, known, and experienced, and from which men and women will go into every sector of public life to claim it for Christ…will only happen as and when local congregations renounce an introverted concern for their own life, and recognize that they exist for the sake of those who are not members, as a sign, instrument, and foretaste of God’s redeeming grace for the whole life of society.
